TODDLERS (Younger 2's)

I believe the children are our future,

teach them well and let them lead the way.

Show them all the beauty they possess inside.

Give them a sense of pride to make it easier.

Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be.

Toilet training is an important part of a child’s life. At Heritage our 2 year old class is the only class in which we potty train. Although you child is not required to be toilet trained, to be in this class, promotion into the Wee-School program will be determined based upon this skill.

I wish we could say that there is a magic age that tells us when a child is ready to be toilet trained, but there isn't.  There are however some guidelines that can help us make that determination though.  When your child exhibits these qualities within the classroom on a regular basis, we will be happy to work with you towards helping your child become toilet trained.  The guidelines we follow are listed below.

  • Child has bladder and bowel control for 2 to 3 hours at a time.
  • Child is able to dress and undress them self.
  • Child is able to follow simple verbal instructions
  • Child asks to use the toilet 1 to 2 minutes prior to needing to go.
  • Child dislikes being in soiled diapers
  • Child shows sincere interest in using the toilet.
