WEE-SCHOOL (Older 2's & young 3's)

CURRICULUM

We believe that each child is made in the image of God, and should have every opportunity to develop spiritually, physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially. Using our theme based curriculum along with individualized instruction, small group work and large group learning environments, we attempt to achieve the goals listed below in a developmentally appropriate way.

Self Help Skills

• Put on their own shoes and coat independently
• Pours water into a glass
• Washes hands independently

Respect for Materials

• Uses materials in appropriate ways
• Cleans up toys

Routines

• Participates at circle time
• Transitions when directed
• Performs daily habits correctly (sits in circle time, walks down hall, etc.)

Relationships

• Connects with teacher(s) as a trusted adult
• Engages in simple interactions with peers
• Learns early social skills such as sharing and communication 

Feelings

• Begins to label own feelings, asserts rights
• Begins to recognize and label feelings in others
• Begins to work on conflict resolution.
• Begins to learn language of caring for others. 

Cognitive

• Recognizes colors and shapes
• Recognizes their own name in print
• Begins to understand categorizing and grouping of similar objects
• Begins to express observations of the world around them
• Establishes an interest in learning new things

Language / Direction

• Understands and follows 1 step directions
• Begins to express ideas/thoughts in multiple word sentences
• Answers questions
• Developing a joy of reading

Motor Skills

• Demonstrates basic locomotors skills (walking, running, etc.)
• Manipulates objects with increasing control
• Makes several basic strokes with a writing utensil
